Discover Saxon Switzerland – Bastei, Königstein Fortress & Spectacular Views
Every Monday: Experience the most beautiful viewpoints, breathtaking landscapes, and famous sights of Saxon Switzerland in just one day – one of Germany’s most fascinating natural regions.
Our tour begins in Dresden. Crossing the Waldschlößchen Bridge, we follow the Elbe, passing the three Elbe Castles and the elegant villa district of Weißer Hirsch. Along picturesque country roads, we reach Lohmen and then the world-famous Bastei.
1st Stop – Bastei Viewpoint
Our first destination is the spectacular Bastei viewpoint. From the Panoramahotel car park, it is just a short walk to the famous viewing platform. Enjoy one of Germany’s most beautiful views over the Elbe Valley, the dramatic sandstone rock formations, and the unique landscape of Saxon Switzerland National Park.
Approximately 45–60 minutes are planned for the stop. During this time, you can enjoy a light snack, use the restroom facilities, or take unforgettable photos of the spectacular scenery.
We then continue our journey through the national park. Passing through the idyllic villages of Porschdorf and Rathmannsdorf, the winding road takes us down into the Elbe Valley.
2nd Stop – Bad Schandau
In Bad Schandau, a traditional spa town on the Elbe, we make a short photo stop at the historic market square.
3rd Stop – Border Crossing to Hřensko, Czech Republic
In Hřensko, you can enjoy a relaxing lunch break of approximately one hour at a traditional local restaurant. Take the opportunity to sample regional specialities and recharge before continuing the tour.
If you have no VISUM to enter the Czech Republik, no problem. We stay in Germany and have alternative lunch breake in Gohrisch on the way to the Fortress of Kings-Castel / Festung Königstein.
4th Stop – Königstein Fortress
After the lunch break, our route takes us along winding panoramic roads to Königstein. The highlight of the tour is the impressive Königstein Fortress – one of the largest hilltop fortresses in Europe.
As a tour group, we are allowed to drive directly to the visitor lift, saving you the strenuous uphill walk. Admission is not included in the tour price and must be paid on site.
In 2026, the regular admission price for adults is €17. Children up to and including the age of 6 are admitted free of charge. Attractive family tickets are also available.
We allow approximately two hours for exploring the extensive fortress complex. Enjoy breathtaking views over the Elbe Valley, fascinating exhibitions, and centuries of history.
After an eventful day, we begin our relaxing journey back to Dresden. Our route takes us via Struppen and Pirna, following the Elbe back to our starting point.
